The paper presents characteristics of a permanent magnet synchronous machine designed for micro-hybrid electric vehicle operation. Appropriate design of interior permanent magnet machine with 36 stator slots and 8 stator poles for operation in motor and generator operation mode was investigated. Finite element analysis is employed in order to determine the machine performance. Streszczenie. Method for torque determination of a wind turbine

The article presents a method for torque determination of a wind turbine. In paper two experimental setups are described. The first one is used for determination of the wind speed influence on the electrical quantities of a wind turbine synchronous generator. The second experimental setup is used for torque measurement of the wind turbine at the same speed and load conditions as in the first experimental setup. Results of measurements from both experimental setups are complete electrical and mechanical characteristics of a wind turbine. The presented method is suitable for re-designing of existing wind turbines. Streszczenie. Artykuł przedstawia metodę określania momentu turbiny wiatrowej. In the presented study, the influence of the split ratio in 12 slot-14 pole permanent magnet motor with interior rotor on the efficiency and torque capability over a wide-speed range is presented. Results for two motors with the same outer stator diameter and different split ratio are presented in order to demonstrate the influence of split ratio on the motor efficiency and torque capability. The paper presents design of fractional-slot permanent magnet synchronous motors with concentrated windings and interior permanent magnets. Inner PM rotor machines with 12 slot/8 poles and 12 slot/10 poles were investigated. Finite element analysis is employed in order to determine the performance of each motor. It is shown that the maximal torque capability and the flux-weakening performance of the particular machine are strongly dependent on the stator slot number/rotor pole number combination, rotor barrier design and on the quality of used PM material. Streszczenie. W artykule przedstawiono projekt silnika synchronicznego z magnesami trwałymi (IPMSM) o uzwojeniu ułamkowo-żłobkowym. Badaniom poddano maszyny PMSM o stosunku żłobki/bieguny 12/8 oraz 12/10. Zastosowano analizę metodą elementów skończonych. Impact of Pole Pair Number on the Efficiency of an Induction Generator for a Mini Hydro Power Plant

The aim of this paper is to analyse the impact of pole pair number on the efficiency of an induction generator designed for a mini hydro power plant. Six induction generators with different number of poles were designed: 2, 3, 6, 10 and 14. The basic point of this study is Kaplan turbine, which considering its rotational speed can be directly connected to a 14-pole induction generator. All other induction generators need a speed reducer for appropriate operation with Kaplan turbine, but speed reduction decreases the efficiency of mechanical energy conversion into electrical energy. Consequently this paper presents the efficiencies of induction generators and the summary efficiencies of an induction generator and a speed reducer. At the design phase of the aforementioned induction generators the realization possibility of the prototypes was taken into account, including the mass of active components and used materials. The aim of this paper is to present the difference of induction machine electromechanical characteristics in motor and generator operating modes. Firstly, the paper presents analytically derived equations, which are based on equivalent circuit and are used for calculation of induction machine breakdown torque. Secondly, a comparison of calculated and measured characteristics in motor and generator operating modes is presented. Results of torque characteristics measurements, temperature rise tests and load tests are also provided. Finally the difference between the calculated and the measured results is commented on and explained in detail. Streszczenie. In such drives the key question is which nominal power of the induction machine is the right one. Namely, the nominal mechanical power written on the nominal plate of an induction motor is not the same as in a generator mode of operation. The reason lies in the shape of torque characteristics of the induction machine. Breakdown torque is not the same in motor and generator modes.
