The simplest way of intensification of wire drawing process is the increase of drawing speed. Recently, in drawing mills is introduced
the dry drawing technologies with high speed (15÷30 m/s). High speed wire drawing causes a lot of insoluble the theoretical and
practical problems, which are related to the influence of drawing speed on mechanical-technological properties and fatigue strength
of wires. The drawing speed has also an effect on the friction conditions, and these last one have influence on inhomogeneity of strain
in wires and on wearing of dies. In the work the theoretical investigation on the base of Drawing2D program and experimental wire
drawing process of high carbon steel wires with two variants has been done. First variant with 0.5 m/s drawing speed in all drafts
and second one with increasing drawing speed up to 20 m/s in last drafts has been done. The experimental investigation in technical
and technological conditions using in drawing factories in ZDB a.s. Bohumin in Czech Republic was done. It was found that high
drawing speed have the influence on mechanical properties of drawn wires. Applied at present lubricants and lubricants carries cause
worsening friction conditions. Presented at work research findings could be a base of trace new directions of modification of high
speed wire drawing.
